Hello. My husbands last name is Guptill. We are traveling to Wales next year. We would like to know if you found results from the graveyards for Gubtail. If so we would love to visit thank you!

Hi Stephanie,

No. Sadly, the headstones in Llanelli were broken up to make road material (!) and so we may never know unless some other clue comes up. There is a small risk that some Gubtails went back to the UK from the US and may inadvertently cause a false trail. Ancestry has a few misleading old census images where something has been machine-translated as Gubtail, but most people in the Facebook group (What’s a Guptill) agreed that these were scanning errors. I shared those images on Facebook.

Hi Ash…
I am seeking two wayward Guptills from Grand Manan.
One is a Simeon Guptill, the other Stillman.

One Stillman is in our family and he’s the one from GMI and not the photographed one from Gouldsboro, ME. Will shoot you an email soon.
